Adirondack Art Camp for Adults
Join us for an informative and relaxing 4 or 5 days on the shores of Raquette Lake. Accommodations and meals will be provided by SUNY Cortland’s Outdoor Education Center at Raquette Lake- Antlers. Located just outside Raquette Lake village, the center is the ideal spot for gorgeous autumnal views of the lake and surrounding Adirondack Mountains. In this rustic setting we will learn about the Adirondack area through art and water media painting.
A special trip will be made to the View Arts Center in Old Forge, to see the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors which is widely considered to be one of the top five of its kind in North America. There will be access to canoes, kayaks and a platform boat to view the lake from all angles, and paint on the lake.
Rooms are single or double occupancy. There are cabins, and a lodge all with twin beds and private bathrooms. Linens to be brought from home. The workroom is spacious and accessible 24 hrs. Meals are provided family style at 8,12 and 6. Kitchen duty is a chore shared with others and can be a bonding time.
This is the third year I have organized this camp and participants have come from Texas, Utah, Arkansas, Virginia, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida and New York. All have commented that it was well worth the trip and some are yearly visitors.
